Board of Director Roles

We're seeking individuals to help lead our PFLAG chapter. If you're interested in supporting the LGBTQ+ community, this is your chance to get involved. Learn more about the open roles and how to apply below.

Expectations of Board Members

As the highest leadership body of the organization, and to satisfy its fiduciary duties, the Board is responsible for:

  • Know PFLAG’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
  • Follow PFLAG’s bylaws, policies, and Board resolutions
  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for PFLAG and fully engage in identifying and securing financial resources and partnerships necessary for PFLAG Fort Collins to advance its mission
  • Avoid speaking or acting on behalf of the PFLAG Board unless authorized to do so by the Board of Directors.
  • Maintain all Chapter files in digital archives accessible to all Board members
  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve PFAGL Fort Collins’ mission
  • Help identify personal connections that can benefit PFLAG’s fundraising and reputational standing, and who can influence public policy
  • Pay yearly dues ($30) to maintain membership in the Chapter, which includes a subscription to PFLAG National Electronic Communications
  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in at least 10 of the monthly Board meetings (unless circumstances prevent participation)
  • Attend at least one monthly support/education group meeting as part of the new Board member orientation
  • Be dedicated to the PFLAG mission and vision, and to the vitality of the Chapter.
  • Officers of the Board (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer) may not be married to one another, living together, or related.
  • Selecting and evaluating the performance of the Chapter President
  • Strategic and organizational planning
  • Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management
  • Approving and monitoring PFLAG Fort Collins’ programs and services
  • Enhancing PFLAG’s public image
  • Assessing its own performance as the governing body of PFLAG Fort Collins
